Janie Mae Crawford

In my newest novel we follow the story or the protagonist Janie Mae Crawford is an interesting charter who I have watched progress as I read Zora Neale Hurston's "Their Eyes Were Watching God". She starts off a young girl raised by her grandmother sure of only one thing, the her dream, quest, goal whatever you wish to call it is to find true love. The story is some what repetitive for the idea that we have seen her married to two men and on what appears to be her third. We have seen her grow both physically and mentally. With each relationship or hope she gains she also learns from it, reflects on it and seems adjust her plan for love and happiness of of that. It is clear that she doesn't learn what she should do next but she learns what she will not do again. This is true to life in the way that we as people don't necessarily know our future or what we can do to achieve our dreams we all just try to do what we think is write. This type of writing can be expected from Zora Neale Hurston for the fact she is not particularly well educated and it is hard for a writer to write on which they do not know. This makes the novel vary connectable to average people educated or not, similar to Gatsbys story it deals with the quest for a goal, something that all readers can relate to, simple because everyone moves to the horizon.

Alright so Thanksgiving a time to be thankful for what we have, many a times it being friends, family , or health. A time to realize what is truly important, things move valuable and meaning full than the bills in our pockets. So to get to the assignment part of this blog I would like to announce that the people I am most thankful for are the dudes in my area and Owen, now that he has moved away. Now everyone in our English class is dandy but I am thankful to these people in particuler because they  make what could have been a boring year of English Two American Literature into a class that for the most part is enjoyable, fun, and entertaining. As I thought of this, I was really trying to pick just one person and it turns out that it maybe impossible because for the most part everyone in the class at some moment or another has done something cool. So as the Pilgrims and Indians celebrated there good harvest back at Plymouth Rock, I plan be be greatful for everything good in my life big or small. As Abraham Lincoln proclaimed that there be national day of thanksgiving, as it was suggested to him that it would "awaken in american hearts the love of home and country, of thankfulness to god, and piece between brethren" in such a time of negativity. Thanksgiving to me is a time where we mix ideas of happiness, thankfulness, and rest. So I would like to wish anyone reading a happy.

Hemingway.

Ernest Hemingway, born in 1899 in Oak Park, Illinois, not far from us now. Hemingway would grow from a reporter in his high school paper to on of the most influential writers of the 20th century. The Hemingway style would set him apart from the others, his simple realist style was different than other writers at the time. Though Hemingway was a great writer but it was also his experiences in life that would give him ideas for stories. Hemingway would also become part of the Lost Generation in which he knew many people, this experience was surely one that helped Hemingway hone his skills. After high school he was determined to join the war, he would see the front lines or all of about a week. He would take his war time experience and used it heavily while writing. Layer in life he would movie to a paris with his first wife, there he would join another group of writers that would come to known as the lost generation. There Hemingway would hone his skills as well as climb to fame. As the value of Hemingway's writings grew so did his public image. He would do manny thing, that one might call daring, things like running with the bulls, big game hunting, and sport fishing south of the U.S. All of these would be perfect for hemming way to base his writing on.
Though his writing career was a a peak Hemingway's personal life was a mess. By the time he committed suicide in 1961 you could see ge had problems physically and mentally. He lost his ability to write after a series of plane crashes. Physically he was very limited. By the end of it all Hemingway would leave behind 3 boys and 4 wives , he died because he wasn't satisfied with himself, because he could not live up to his legend, because he could not live up to Hemingway.

John Proctor

John Proctor is a complicated character. His past has a questionable period, when he presently had intentions of being a good man. Is he a hero, or is he a stooge?  In my opinion hero is the wrong word, hero is used to describe someone who overcomes problems or a hardships. Nor is john a stooge though he may have acted foolishly he did believe in his actions. In my mind John Proctor is a good guy who was stuck in a hard spot. Partly due to the community he lived in as well as his own actions. John Proctor, not hero nor stooge, just a man.

There Goes the Neighborhood

As we know the europeans had the idea that they were going to take the America. It true that there goals may have been different based on there lives in Europe but each group had the idea to come to america and make it there own. Look at it from the side of the native a relatively simple people in comparison, a people who had lived on these lands for generations. There perspective not the world was rather peaceful and respecting of nature, so the appearance of these new people was quite strange to them. Some groups took them in as gods an others welcomed them as men, though in my mind this trust would be hard to keep seeing as the lifestyle of europeans differed so much from there own. To have been a leader of a tribe would bring out an interesting line between choosing peace and protection of lives and way of life. In the end I don't think there was much of an option for the North American tribes. Though natives may have had the ability to stop europeans by killing Columbus and his crew, after Europe knew about this new land there fate was sealed. For they have a little hope to find a middle ground or terms of understanding and even less hope to fight them off. There differences were just to much for a strong alliance, europeans found value in gold and money when natives valued  life and nature, the europeans have also had a sense of entitle meant over natives based on skin color and over all complexity or lack of it. These point truly set the two groups apart from one and other in a way Natives couldn't comprehend.
